Winning Amid Covid-19

winning amid covid-19The global pandemic has shifted the way the world works. With isolation, quarantine, testing, and more, people have had to adjust their mindset this past year majorly. A lack of socialization and implementation of social distancing has left a lot of people feeling lackluster and demotivated. Many are finding it hard to stay positive.

If you relate to feeling this way, don’t worry because you’re not alone. A collective traumatic experience is challenging, and you can’t expect yourself to react to it positively. Even the most positive ones among us might have had trouble sticking to their cheery attitude.

Before we talk about how to win during Covid-19, I want to give you a little teaser about life coaching. Life coaching can be ultra-beneficial if you want to shift your perspective to a more positive one. It also benefits you in several other ways. You can achieve self-awareness, self-fulfillment and be on your way to real introspection.

I’d love to introduce you to all of these fantastic concepts, so feel free to book your first discovery session with me today! We will get to know each other, talk about your current motivations and concerns, and develop a plan to help you win at life!

The Importance of Perspective

Now, let’s discuss the importance of your perspective. It’s essential to know that what happens to you isn’t nearly as important as how you react to it. If you have a defeatist attitude, you will react to occurrences in negative ways. On the other hand, a winning attitude will help you deal with difficult times more positively. You’ll be able to reap benefits that others can’t see.

If you feel like you have a pessimistic perspective towards life, don’t be worried. I admit it’s not easy to realign perspectives, but it’s also not an out-of-reach process. All you need is determination and motivation to make the shift happen.

Think about it like this. There was a concert you were hoping to catch this year. You’d bought the tickets in advance, read up on them, and were looking forward to it. Then, there was a second wave of Covid-19, and the event got canceled. Your city went into lockdown.

There are two ways to react to this situation, and only one of them will make you feel better. A person with a negative perspective would feel defeated and down. They would internalize this experience and feel like they’re unlucky or that nothing good will happen again. They would also be upset about the monetary investment they made.

Meanwhile, someone with a positive perspective would recognize the hidden luck in the situation. If the concert had still happened despite the virus, many people might have become affected by Covid-19. It would have been a disease hotspot, and the whole community might have been affected. What’s more, the positive person would find a way to enjoy another activity while being in quarantine. They would catch a live session by the singer in question and weigh the opportunity cost of missing the concert versus contracting the virus.

I hope it’s a little clearer now.

How to Create a Positive Mindset

Now that you know why perspective is critical, you’re ready to learn how to achieve a positive one. If you’ve felt low or upset for a while, it might be tough to retrain your brain into positive thinking overnight. Don’t expect sudden changes from yourself, and you won’t be disappointed.

The main trick is simple: force yourself to convert any negative thoughts you have into positive ones. The best way to do this is to wear an elastic band around your wrist. Every time you get a negative thought, give the band a tweak. It will snap back against your skin, sending a sharp sensation along your arm. Then, convert your thought into a positive one. Once you get into the habit of doing this, your brain will learn how to do it on its own!

A good example is this: let’s say you want to spend some time outside, but it has started to rain. You find yourself feeling glum and don’t want to do anything anymore. Snap your band and replace this thought with a cheerful one. For example, a rainy day means you can hang out with family inside and play board games. Or you can sort out your closet as you’ve meant to.

Once you learn how to replace each negative thought with a positive one, you’ll find that your perspective shifts independently.

Work with a Life Coach

And here’s the best way to win during a challenging time like Covid-19: work with a professional life coach! A life coach is a trained expert who creates a customized plan that you can use to achieve whichever personal goals are essential to you. A life coach will make seemingly complex issues like fixing your self-esteem feel like manageable and treatable concerns.

There are so many benefits of working with a life coach. Let’s look at some of these:

  • You will find clarity on the goals and objectives you want to achieve both for the short and long terms.
  • You will receive a customized roadmap from someone who takes the time to learn about your struggles and limitations. Once you start following the roadmap, you will find yourself achieving smaller goals that feed into your larger ones.
  • You will be able to realign and shift your perspective from a negative to a positive, accepting one.
  • This will allow you to take complete advantage of any opportunities that come your way. You will also find yourself open to different opportunities that you might not have noticed before
  • You will have a trained professional by your side who will make you feel like you are essential and will take your concerns and issues seriously.

Famous People and what they have to say about Life Coaching

When you think of celebrities, you might picture a famous, self-assured person who doesn’t let anything get in their path to success. This isn’t true because celebrities are just like ordinary people because they fear anxiety and sometimes lack motivation. They also need to reach out to someone who can help them achieve their goals.

Many prominent celebrities have worked with life coaches and remain grateful to them till this very day. Let’s look at some of the famous names who attribute their success to life coaches.

#1: Oprah Winfrey

Oprah has made a name for herself with her award-winning talk show, her books, and her philosophy of life. She’s a well-known name internationally, and there’s barely anyone who doesn’t know her or her work.

Oprah gives credit for some of her success to her renowned life coach, Martha Beck. She’s been very vocal about how life coaching has helped her stay afloat through all these years. Not only that, but she advises her fans and followers to start working with experienced life coaches. Oprah views life coaching as one of the best ways to succeed in life.

Here’s what Martha Beck has to say about positive thinking, “Hopeful thinking can get you out of your fear zone and into your appreciation zone.”

#2: Leonard DiCaprio

Leo DiCaprio has been in the industry for a long time. He’s given heart-warming performances that have made millions of people all over the world fall in love with him. Despite his hard work and constant efforts, it took a long time for him to win an award that he wanted.

He attributes some of his success and mental peace to his life coach, Tony Robbins. Robbins helped him hone his skills and focus on his strengths to lead the life that he wanted to. By getting Leo to focus solely on the positive aspects of his personality. Robbins ensured that he would get to the top.

Leo equates his life coach to a friend who knows him. He said, “I get a friend to travel with me – I need somebody to bring me back to who I am. It’s hard to be alone.”

Robbins has been the person who’s known Leo through all of his ups and downs and proves that life coaching is a powerful practice that works.

#3: Serena Williams

Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t the only celebrity that Tony Robbins has helped. He’s been pivotal in giving a much-needed boost to Serena Williams’ life and goals. Robbins has helped Williams enhance her performance on the court by urging her to focus on her strengths instead of her weaknesses.

Williams often talks about how life coaching helped her come out of a very dark place. There was a time when she got severely injured and couldn’t train properly. Robbins coached her through this dismal period in her life and made her well enough to win a Grand Slam later on.

With Robbins’ teachings, Serena Williams learned how to convert her failures to successes.

#4: Britney Spears

If you know anything about Britney Spears, you’ll know that she’s had to overcome an extraordinary number of struggles and setbacks. She lost her way for a while when she was forced to raise her children by herself and was always hounded by the press and paparazzi. She lost her self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth.

However, she was able to bounce back from all of that with her life coach’s help, whose name she keeps hidden. This anonymous life coach helped her regain her sense of self, and she was able to get back on stage and rebuild her professional and public image.

Her life coach helped restore the thing she needed the most: self-belief. Spears seems to have overcome her struggles quite successfully with life coaching.

The Bottomline

As you’ve read, famous people need help too. Life coaching is simply a way to identify your unique struggle and then plan to overcome it. There’s no shame in reaching out to a licensed expert who is willing to help. In fact, not reaching out can often do more damage, and I urge you to keep that in mind.

Self-Care in the time of Covid-19

self-care during covid-19

Covid-19 has changed the world, literally. This last year has forced people worldwide to stay indoors and find new ways to stay entertained. These drastic measures have also led to an increase in mental health issues, and numerous people have found themselves becoming anxious or depressed.

I want to talk to you about the importance of self-care, especially during these trying and turbulent times. It’s easy to neglect our well-being when we feel like there are external things to focus on. It’s perfectly normal to feel anxious about our circumstances, given the situation. However, you can also use this time to reflect on and renew your relationship with yourself. You can put yourself on the path to well-being by practicing several essential self-care habits during this time.

If you are experiencing any emotional or existential crises and don’t know how to work towards your goals, please book a discovery session with me. I’m a certified life coach, and I’ll discuss your current struggles and help you draft a plan for your future well-being!

What is Self-Care?

Before we talk about self-care practices, it’s essential to discuss what self-care looks like. Self-care can sound like an intimidating concept, but there’s nothing to it.

Self-care is essentially what it sounds like: taking care of yourself. You have to consider yourself the most vital part of this equation and do anything and everything that will benefit your well-being. I will go into more detail about what this looks like on a practical level, but for now, all you need to know is that consistent self-care leads to better self-esteem, more exact thoughts, more focus, and a lot more benefits.

Self-Care Habits to Adopt During Covid-19

I’m talking about self-care during these times because we all have extra time to spend indoors or at home. Most people have adopted a work-from-home structure meaning they are free to stay home while they go about their day.

This naturally frees up more time in our daily lives, which can then be used to indulge in self-care habits. Let’s look at what these are.

#1: Take out time to reflect

It’s hard to take out time to meditate or reflect when we’re running around busy in our workplaces. We often forget to take those precious ten minutes after we wake up to think or meditate. Most of our mornings are spent rushing to get ready and get out of the house.

One of the best self-care practices is to allocate ten to fifteen minutes after you wake up to reflect on your life. This is a great way to get used to introspection. You’ll start to get more in touch with your emotions and become aware of your insecurities. This sounds scary, but it’s not. It’s a beautiful process that will allow you to approach yourself with healing instead of judgment.

#2: Book time with a life coach

One of the best ways to incorporate self-care into your life is to start consulting a life coach. If you don’t know what a life coach does, let me explain. A life coach is like a coach for your life. Life coaches have significant experience in dealing with people’s ambitions, goals, and struggles.

I usually start with a free discovery session, where I get to know my client. I ask them specific questions relating to their current struggles and lifestyle. Over the next few sessions, I get to know them better and develop a detailed plan that they can use to accomplish their particular goals. I then keep checking in with them to ensure that they’re on the right track to meeting their objectives.

Talking to a life coach is an ideal part of any self-care routine as it allows you to open up to someone who can give you a strategy for your life path.

#3: Pick up a new skill

Time indoors might be a blessing in disguise if you know how to use it. An essential part of any self-care routine is to add something novel and exciting to it. You will love being presented with a new challenge and will be eager when you see how quickly you tackle it.

I would suggest picking up a new hobby or skill to ensure your time during lockdown doesn’t go to waste. This can vary from person to person, but here are a few skills you can easily pick up:

  • Learning a new language
  • Knitting or crocheting
  • Reading a book per week.
  • Solving crossword puzzles
  • Keeping a daily or weekly journal
  • Taking an online class
  • Learning new exercises

And there are a lot more you can add to this list! Do you see where I’m going with this? The possibilities are endless.

You might be confused about how learning a new skill would help you practice self-care. Well, once you set yourself on the path to learning something new, you’ll force yourself to be disciplined. This means fixing your sleep schedule and generally creating a stable routine for yourself. Once these things are in place, you will automatically feel a lot better about yourself and your general lifestyle.

Why Self-Care Routines Work

Now hear me out. For anything to work, you need to stick to it and be consistent. It’s the same thing with self-care practices. If you make them a part of your daily routine, they will help you find a sense of well-being and lead you to growth.

This is precisely why self-care routines work. They enable us to handle our daily lives better as we get more in tune with our inner selves. Once we understand our inner worlds more profoundly, we can start to make positive changes to our external life.

What is a Discovery Session?

what is a discovery session

Are you ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery? Want to take the next step to create a better sense of well-being? You’re in the right place.

I want to talk to you today about how you can reframe your mindset, boost your self-esteem, and work your way towards self-fulfillment. It might sound too good to be accurate, but if you stick with me, I’ll help you understand how easy it can kickstart your journey.

Let’s Talk Self-Fulfilment

So, why do we talk so much about self-fulfillment? What exactly is it that we’re trying to attain? When people talk about reaching a high level of personal growth, they’re talking about emotional evolution. It’s deemed highly desirable to attain a positive mindset, react rather than attack, and shift your perspective to make life better.

Self-fulfillment is simply the culmination of all of these factors. The path to complete self-growth is not easy, but it’s not complicated either. As with any problem, there is an available solution, and there are tools you can use to achieve it.

I’m going to tell you about some of these tools now.

Your Free Discovery Session with a Life Coach

If you’re confused about what a life coach does and how they can help you, keep reading. A life coach is a trained professional who can teach you to retrain your brain, shift your perspective, and work on any other goals you may have.

Think of a life coach like a sports coach. A good sports coach studies the field, his team, the opponents, and then puts all these things together to create a strategy that will help you win the game. Any good coach must be an expert in their work line because they can’t help you if they don’t have prior experience.

The sports metaphor is a good one and applies to how I approach life coaching. The first thing I like to do is to urge my clients to book a free discovery session with me. During this session, we have an initial call where I introduce myself, talk about what I do, and then ask my client to tell me what they’re thinking of or going through.

Of course, one call or session isn’t nearly enough to understand my client’s unique struggles, but it’s a good start. I ask questions, prompt them to reply, and challenge them to rethink their beliefs to attain their goals.

The free discovery session is a jumping-off point to a beautiful relationship where I design customized plans for my clients, depending on what it is they’re looking for.

How Can a Life Coach Help?

Now, let’s talk about how life coaching can positively impact your life. When you sign up with a life coach, you should be clear about what you want to get out of the sessions. This applies to almost everything in life. You don’t need to have a crystal-clear idea of where you’re trying to get to because this will be unraveled during sessions, but you must have some understanding of what you’re struggling with.

Think of a life coach like a friend who will challenge your beliefs and introduce you to new perspectives about life. They will also give you powerful insights while encouraging you to achieve your goals.

Life coaching is different from therapy, and this is important to keep in mind. A therapist addresses your past traumas and tries to work with you to overcome them for your current state of mind.

On the other hand, a life coach asks you relevant questions about your current situation in life and provides you with a plan for the future. If you implement this plan, with your coach’s help, of course, you will find yourself with new possibilities and opportunities. A life coach’s plan for you will help you with your future, and they will be there every step of the way.

Here are some of the unique benefits you will get when you sign up with a life coach:

  • In-depth insights: you will receive powerful insights that will challenge you to rethink how you perceive things around you. These insights can range from overarching ideas to the nitty-gritty that may be ignored in daily life.
  • A new perspective: you will learn how to retrain your brain and shift your perspective away from negative thinking to positive affirmations and beliefs. We must learn how to take things as they come instead of being volatile and reacting to every setback or obstacle. A positive mindset will only help you on your way to overall growth.
  • Improved self-esteem: life coaching will allow you to take space and focus on your inner world. There will be things you don’t like about yourself, but you can work on these with your coach and change the game. Once you start achieving your goals, you will start to realize how strong you are and capable of. This will automatically result in better self-esteem as you continue to realize your self-worth.
  • The ability to embrace change: change can be a scary thing for many people. This is understandable as human beings are creatures of habit, and normal fluctuations can feel catastrophic if you’re not prepared. Working with a life coach will help you embrace and accept change as a part of daily life.
  • Open to life: once you start focusing on your well-being and self-growth, you will find yourself becoming more open to life and everything it has to offer. I will work with you and help you break out of any beliefs or ideas that limit you. You will feel freer, more positive, and on the lookout for new opportunities. This will allow you to live your life the way you want and not just get through it one day at a time.
